We had a relaxing weekend. How about you?
The sun was shining and it was tshirt weather! Gorgeous!
Over the weekend I also decided I’m going to work on improving my photography skills. Again. I did this before (long time ago before I got married) and was hoping to become some famous photographer. LOL. I bought books, scoured the forums and thought about enrolling in a digital photography course at a local college.
Never happened. I read the books but forgot to apply what I’d learned and never enrolled in the course because it was out of budget. This time around I am just looking for an improvement (ie. following the rule of thirds) and am going to reread my books from 5 years ago. Will not be an aspiring photographer – just trying to capture some memorable moments for my family scrapbooks.
I have 3 cameras currently:
1. Canon Rebel DSLR (no idea the actual model number – my husband and I bought this maybe 5 or 6 years ago). Never purchased any fancy lenses and only used the one that came in the starter kit. This is the reason why I think my pictures suck. HAHAHA
2. Canon point and shoot – good for moms on the go! Most of the time I use this camera because my daughter can’t hold a pose for too long. And it fits in her diaper bag!
3. Polaroid 600 Land Camera – I LOVE IT. I have never had a Polaroid camera in my life! I remember constantly begging my parents to get me one for my birthday as everyone else I knew had one (cousins, friends). Instead they bought me a Fuji 35mm camera which I wasn’t too crazy about as the waiting to have the film processed was too long for an impatient 7 year old like me. HA. So for my 30th birthday last year I decided to buy one!
I wore it on my shoulder and went to the park with it. People stared and I got a few chuckles from men and women who actually knew what it was! Some would even stop me and ask where I bought it.
Little did I know the film would be so hard to find in Canada.
I had to order off of a US website, send to friends and my sister who was working in California at the time and then wait for them to bring it home to me. Worth the wait? Definitely! Although now I am down to my last pack of film and I use the camera sparingly. HA.
So if anyone knows where I can get some film for my Polaroid in Canada, please let me know!
I’m hoping with this new goal of mine, you’ll be able to see some improvement in my photo skills in a few months.
And if you have any quick tips on how to improve my photo taking skills, please share
